Backup to tape remains the standard backup option for companies with large volumes of data. Tape backup is rapidly being overtaken by online backup [LINK] which offers many advantages. This change is largely constrained by the speed of broadband Internet connections – the comparatively slow Internet connection limits how much data can be transferred overnight. One critical element of tape backup is knowing that your daily backup has completed successfully. You do not want to wait until you have a crisis to know if you can restore from your backup tapes. For this reason Riverbank offers two complementary services. The first is our support services. Managed Network support (and above) include monitoring of your backup – we know if it has succeeded or failed. The second additional service is Test your Backup. This is an annual check that everything you need to back up is being backed up, and that you can successfully restore data from your backup tapes. |
