The Chamber Awards 2007
Award for Performance Through People
Riverbank has won the award for ‘Performance Through People’ in the Chamber Awards 2007, south-east region. It recognises the importance of developing our skills, how we have placed learning at the heart of what we do, and the rewards this is bringing to the business.
Riverbank’s managing director, Malcolm Newdick, said the award was enormously satisfying. “As an IT company we have to be learning all the time, just to keep up with the tremendous rate of change in our world. The real challenge is to keep ahead and help all our staff develop their skills and knowledge. The main strategy that has driven learning within Riverbank is the 10% rule. Each employee is expected to use half a day per week for learning. As a result it really has become part of our culture. It is a real thrill, and a credit to our staff, that we have been recognised by this award from the Chamber of Commerce.”
Peter Mileham, President of the BCC said,
“The BCC has long been an advocate of the importance of investing in the skills development of your workforce. A strategic skills and workforce development programme will be one of the most effective investments any business can make. We congratulate Riverbank IT Management Ltd for having the foresight to be so progressive in this area.”
Additional comments from the judges:
“It doesn’t matter how good your product or service is - without the right people in place your business will suffer. Riverbank IT Management Ltd demonstrates the positive impact investment in workforce development can have on the bottom line. Riverbank IT Management Ltd is a role model for others to follow.”
Riverbank will now go through to the finals of Chamber Awards 2007 at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London on the 29th November 2007.
